Karen and Steve are convinced Tasmania’s distinct seasons allow for diverse quality produce and that we should know where our food comes from, how it is grown and harvested and this in the end contributes to us eating a healthy, seasonally, sustainable, well balanced diet.
Published by Tas Food Books, Island Harvest was officially launched by Tasmania's Premier, Lara Giddings on 14th December 2012. The Premier congratulated Karen on the book saying "Tasmania's clean air, pure water, great climate and rich, fertile soils have made Tasmania a mecca for people from across Australia and around the world who appreciate fine food and wine,"
She went on "I also like the way Karen has made use of indigenous foods that were known and eaten by the Aboriginal people who knew all about the abundance that this island had to offer tens of thousands of years before white settlement."
