Jeremy Oliver Wine Annual 2016 edition.

As a wine lover you can never have too much information on hand and these two guides are both excellent references to have around. This is the 33rd edition of Australian Wine Vintages and Rob Geddes MW has certainly done some tasting on our behalf! Likewise Jeremy Oliver in The Australian Wine Annual.

And now the good old VisitVineyards prize shelf has yielded up three copies of each to be won!

Both these guides are presented by highly respected wine writers and both stated that there were more good wines than ever before and it was harder to select their top wines. In this case we're certainly thankful they've done all the hard tasting work for the rest of us!

Australian Wine Vintages 2016 by Rob Geddes MW

This nuggety little number, all gleaming and gold, contains wine advice with both the novice and experienced wine collector in mind. In the 2016 edition, Rob Geddes MW said the wines were better than ever and from a more diverse range of wineries and he should know – he's got tasting notes for over 6,000 wines from 350 wineries!

Always helpful too are the Top 100 and Gold Star lists which make good go-to references when looking for a new wine to try and if you're into certified organic and biodynamic wines, there's a list for them too!

The Australian Wine Annual 2016 by Jeremy Oliver

Jeremy Oliver announced that it was harder to pick a wine of the year as the field was stronger than ever but he has managed to navigate them all and provide us with this guide, telling us what's hot (and not), what wines to drink and when and also what they should cost. Handy advice indeed when on the prowl in a bottleshop laden with wines to choose from.

As well as the ever useful Top 10 and Top 100 lists, Oliver also writes some interesting insider commentary on the wine industry – trends, challenges and more to round out the wine world in Australia.
