Is this the world's biggest gallery? It's a canvas covering 1.3 million square kilometres where art has been coming to life for over 65,000 years. Now the Northern Territory Arts Trail is connecting the  many vibrant cultural and artistic attractions, creating a distinctive and uniquely Territorian itinerary.

The NT is a living, growing exhibition, thousands of years in the making, and it's become a whole lot easier to discover the varied and vibrant art and cultural experiences on offer.

The Northern Territory Government’s Arts Trail project is funding the development and promotion of Aboriginal art galleries, museums, and significant sites with a range of itineraries on offer for travellers to make the most out of their Territory experience.

Which region will you explore first on the Arts Trail? Then you'd better book a flight to start experiencing the art, the culture and the amazing people first hand!

  • Uluru, the centrepiece of the arts trail in the Red Centre
  • Kakadu - featuring expansice collection of Aboriginal rock art dating back 20,000
  • Darwin - arts and culture plus base for Tiwi, Kakadu, Arnhem Land and beyond.
  • Arnhem Land - home to some of the oldest rock art in the world
  • Alice Springs -  heart of Australian Aboriginal art, cultural hub with art galleries and the Araluen Cultural Precinct
  • Katherine - galleries and cultural activities

New experiences, like art centres, festivals, events, Aboriginal rock art sites, commercial and public art galleries as well as cultural tours, are being added as businesses qualify.
