Taste Port Douglas presented by Sheraton Grand Mirage delivers all the talent of a big city food festival to the palm lined paradise of Port Douglas.

The award winning festival is back this August drawing foodies from afar with its three day food loving program presented by an all-star line-up of the nation’s best chefs and industry experts.

“You won’t find another food festival in Australia where you can sit and watch the likes of Colin Fassnidge and Ben O’Donoghue cooking on a stage that is overlooking the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest.” explains festival director Spencer Patrick. “There’s a relaxed vibe at Taste Port Douglas that you can’t replicate at other festivals. The chefs can bring their families to paradise and actually enjoy themselves while they work and guests get a more personal and intimate experience because of this,” he continues.

It’s this winning combination of tremendous culinary talent, unique setting and winter warmth that has southerners flocking to Taste Port Douglas, securing the festival as the Far North’s “must-do” signature foodie event with more than 50% of pre-sale tickets coming from interstate and 7.5% from overseas.

An impressive line-up of internationally recognised Australian talent makes up the 2017 bill with organisers confirming that festival regulars, Colin Fassnidge, Ian Curley and Massimo Mele will return for the event alongside another eighteen talented chefs & presenters from across the country including new recruits, Monty Koludrovic from iconic Icebergs in Sydney and Nelly Robinson from Restaurant Nel, NSW.

The official program kicks off on Friday August 11 with chefs presenting wine dinners in the annual sell out, “Big Taste” series which is held in venues from Cairns to Port Douglas.

This is closely followed up by two days of fun at “Festival Village”, the epicentre of the weekend. Guests to the village enjoy live demos by their favourite chefs, master classes, pop up food stalls, produce and live music.

Extending late into Saturday night is the Harry Hawker Street Food Party where ten guest chefs cook up tasty street food under the stars and  Festival Village at Rex Smeal Park is set to sizzle this year with more food, activities and fun.

Major sponsor Douglas Shire council has encouraged the extended use of Market Park on Sunday August 13 to invite producers and food trucks from across the region to be part of the ‘Mega Marketta & Food Truck Fiesta’.

Spencer Patrick says "The addition of new food offerings on day two will give people another reason to come back and enjoy, it’s going to be a lot of fun!”
