Driven by the mantra ‘Sharing and Caring with Action’, SA CWA has been serving the community for a near-century since 1929. In keeping with their values, this book was created entirely by volunteers who donated their time, knowledge and skills to reinvent SA CWA’s original and highly popular Calendar of Cakes from 1950.

Members from all over the state came together to share their love of baking and to contribute recipes that have been passed down through generations and perfected over years. Many of them are award-winning bakers and the tips they have shared come from years of practice in the kitchen.

Add to this, the modern expertise and enthusiasm of a new wave of fresh, young SA CWA members and the result is a practical, approachable, reliable and educational cookbook, designed for home cooks.

There is a cake here for every week of the year; plus more for special occasions. Easy-to-follow recipes using each season’s freshest flavours,  combined with a comprehensive baking guide and SA CWA cooks’ tips, make this the cake cookbook of the year.

All proceeds from the sale of this book feed right back into SA CWA to continue to help support women and children in communities throughout South Australia.


About the authors of Calendar of Cakes:

Fiona Roberts grew up in country New South Wales, the daughter of an oyster farmer, surrounded by fresh local produce.

She trained at the renowned Leiths School of Food and Wine, in London, has a Masters in Gastronomy and cut her teeth in London and Sydney’s highly competitive food publishing scene, including the iconic Australian Women’s Weekly cookbook division.

With nearly 20 years experience, internationally and locally Fiona has worked with some of the industry’s most influential food writers, such as Delia Smith, Maggie Beer and Donna Hay.

Jacqui Way is an award-winning photographer who has specialised in shooting food for over 17 years.

From early childhood and the influences of a country grandmother, she has had an insatiable appetite for all things edible. Her career in photography has seen her express this passion through cookbooks and magazine editorials, her clients ranging from large food companies to small local producers, restaurants and wineries.

She can vouch that all the cakes in this book are extremely tasty!
