Kahlon Estate Wines is located in the town of Renmark, in the Riverland wine region of South Australia's Lower Murray area.

Kahlon Estate Wines have, from the outset, set themselves apart from the rest of the industry. Of course the story really begins somewhat earlier, in the year 1990. The year 1990 marked a turning point in the South Australian Riverland wine grape industry. Renewed interest in fine wine and the refined art of growing fine grapes over the preceding decade was just the impetus that was needed to give birth to the vision of the Founder, Mohinder Kahlon. His single-minded devotion to excellence in his chosen field of grape growing, ensured his success in establishing Kahlon Estate Wines. He continues to maintain the full control of quality and consistency in his products by having the full encapsulation from growing the grapes to making the wine, all maintained and managed in-house.

By careful site selection and leading edge vineyard practice, Kahlon Estate Wines quickly gained recognition from many leading Australian winemakers, this resulted in the fact that Kahlon Estate where granted grape supply contracts from some of the nations leading wine producers. They recognized the quality and reliability of the fruit grown on the Estate and the owners hands on pursuit of excellence. Thus the Estate has grown to over 400 acres, applying the same standards of site selection and vineyard management to each exclusive parcel of land.

Thus the stage was set for Kahlon Estates to make the natural progression to winemaking, and to the recent addition of fine bottled table wines as well, applying the same pursuit of excellence in grape growing to winemaking. Mohinder Kahlon sought the guidance of Companies experienced in winery design and engineering to design a state of the art winery to delivery his objectives. The winery is built around the concept of preserving fruit quality and achieving a balance between allowing time for maximum fruit and flavour extraction, and processing the Estates' grapes within the limited time available at which grapes are at their optimum level. To this end, the winery is a state of the art, modern and clean facility in which modern and advanced technologies combined with traditional methods come together to produce wines bursting with the flavors of the grapes from which they are made.

From established markets and success of quality wine production, the Company felt obligated to produce a small but popular range of bottled wines in 2004 under the unmistakable and easily recognizable brand icon of Longtail which also displays an emblem of an Australian Kangaroo on its label. These specially selected bottled wines are produced by Kahlon Estate Wines, and again are overseen by Mohinder personally, as are all facets of grapes to wine produced by the Company.

While Mohinder carries the mantle of Managing Director and Founder, he is also the Viticulturalist and has surrounded himself with a fine team of professionals who brought with them many years of practical winery experience and a solid technical background, including winemakers, production personnel and including our own in-house Laboratory and Technical Services Manager.
