Pikes Wines is situated in the historic and picturesque Polish Hill River sub region on the eastern side of the Clare Valley, in South Australia's Mount Lofty Ranges. The climate in this area is considerably cooler and the soils are also quite unique to the rest of the region. These attributes impart distinctive flavours and aromas to the wines from the Polish Hill River area.

The winery and cellar door have been renovated from an old stone shearing shed and the new administration and function area is constructed out of local stone giving it a similar feel to the other buildings on the property.

Pikes Wines produce wines that reflect their variety, region and vintage conditions. We are quite happy to watch over the wines during their formative stage and intervene only when necessary. We aim to produce the best wines we can from the fruit our vineyards give us from any particular vintage.

Pikes also produce Oakbank Beer. Englishman Henry Pike immigrated to South Australia in 1878 aboard the HMS Oakland. He settled in the small town of Oakbank in the Adelaide Hills and in 1886 established the family brewing business H. Pike and Co. Pikes Beers, stouts, soft drinks, tonics and cordials were South Australian favourites for almost a century before H. Pike and Co. was sold in 1971.

Fifth general decendents of Henry Pike, Andrew and Neil Pike established Pikes Wines in the Clare Valley of South Australia in 1984 and having long held the desire to see Pikes Beer back on the market, reintroduced Pikes Oakbank Beer in 1996.

Since the time when Pikes Beer was relaunched in 1996, it has gone through a long process of brewing and labelling evolution to the point where they have now returned the labelling to its roots, but with a fresh new retro look and feel. The new range will include the flagship Pilsener Lager, the Genuine Stout, a new Sparkling Ale and a seasonal brew which will change from season to season depending on weather and consumer preferences.
