Seppeltsfield has a proud and priceless legacy dating back to 1851 and is Australia’s most iconic wine estate.

It was established in the Barossa Valley by Joseph and Johanna Seppelt just 15 years after the European settlement of South Australia. One of the largest and most modern wineries in the world of its time, Seppeltsfield went on to thrive as an artisan community throughout the early 1900’s. Steeped in rich Barossan heritage, the estate is considered a true national treasure which helped shape the history of the Australian wine industry.

Seppeltsfield owns the largest private holding of premium shiraz in the Valley and it is from these rich soils that the Barossa Shiraz and Shiraz Touriga Grenache are crafted:

Barossa Shiraz Vintage 2011

Shiraz(100%) from the Barossa Valley, 400 produced.

Vineyard: the Shiraz blocks, lying on the ironstone soils of the Seppeltsfield estate, were carefully managed through what would prove to be a
challenging viticultural season. Despite higher than average rainfall during the ripening period, the Shiraz parcels which showed the best acid
balance, sugar and flavour ripeness were identified and reserved for our limited release table wine offerings.

Winemaking: the 2011 Shiraz was crafted in the 1888 Gravity Flow Cellar. Built into the hillside on a series of terraces, the world-class winery is geared towards small batch parcels for super premium table wine. Gravity guides the flow of grapes down through the winery to deliver gentle
extraction of colour, flavour and tannin. The Shiraz was fermented in open top fermenters and then matured for 14 months in seasoned French oak puncheons.

Winemaker: Fiona Donald -2012 Barossa Winemaker of the Year

Tasting notes: an elegant, red fruited Shiraz, with high aromatics of licquorice and cherry. Maturation in seasoned French oak has retained a fresh mouth feel, whilst weaving a supple tannin structure with and a lick of savoury spice.

Deep red black in colour with aromas of red and black fruits with liquorice notes. The palate is medium-bodied with elegant red fruits, a fleshy mouth feel and supple tannins.

Cellaring: enjoy now or will reward with further cellaring over 5 years

Food pairing: tomato based pastas, wood-fired pizza, smoked meats, blue vein cheeses

Alc/Vol: 14.0%
RRP: A$30 bottle

Shiraz Tourgia Grenache 2011

Shiraz (86%), Touriga (9%), Grenache (5%) from the Barossa Valley, 400 produced.

Vineyard: the Shiraz, Touriga & Grenache blocks, lying on the ironstone soils of the Western ridge of the Barossa, were carefully managed through what would prove to be a challenging viticultural season. Traditionally reserved for our fortified offerings, small parcels of Shiraz, Grenache and Touriga that showed the best colour, acid and flavour balance were identified for an elegant, medium-bodied still red blend.

Winemaking: the 2011 ‘STG’ was crafted in the 1888 Gravity Flow Cellar. Built into the hillside on a series of terraces, the world-class winery is geared towards small batch parcels for super premium table wine. Gravity guides the flow of grapes down through the winery to deliver gentle extraction of colour, flavour and tannin. The three varietals were individually fermented in open top fermenters and then matured for 10 months in seasoned French oak puncheons.

Winemaker: Fiona Donald -2012 Barossa Winemaker of the Year

Tasting notes: a beautifully balanced wine, showing wild hedgerow fruits, white blossom and savoury spice. Brief maturation in seasoned French oak allows the purity of fruit to shine, whilst adding a delicate tannin structure.

Deep red purple in colour with aromas of elegant berry compote with hints of white pepper and violets. The palate is medium-bodied with a wonderful balance of fruit and spice and a soft, rounded mouth feel.

Cellaring: enjoy now or will reward with further cellaring over 5 years

Food pairing: Lamb cutlets, beef braises, charcuterie

Alc/Vol: 13.5%
RRP: A$30 bottle
