Recognised as one of Australia's truly outstanding experiences, the four day Maria Island Walk is a delightful blend of rare wildlife, fascinating history, island tranquillity and gourmet delights.
Set on a beautiful island national park of Tasmania's East Coast, small groups of just ten guests and two friendly guides explore the pristine beaches, tall ancient forests and World Heritage sites by day and then each night relax with candlelight dining and elegant accommodation.
Maria Island is a 'Noah's Ark' for rare Tasmanian animals and birds including Tasmanian devils, wombats and a variety of rare kangaroos and wallabies. It is also Australia's newest UNESCO World Heritage listing with its intact convict settlement at Darlington and it has a resident population of just two park rangers and their one car!
The first two nights are spent in secluded wilderness camps and the final night in heritage listed Bernacchi House in Darlington.
The all inclusive package, costs $2350 per person, starts and finishes in Hobart with departures from October to April.
The walk has won seven national and 12 state tourism awards and is a founding member of The Great Walks Of Australia group.
