Finalists in the 2017 Tasmanian Wine List of the Year competition have been selected and voting is now invited from members of the wine loving public.

Now in its fourth year, this program is presented by Wine Tasmania in partnership with the Tasmanian Hospitality Association (THA) to recognise Tasmanian businesses supporting the island’s outstanding wines.

Following selection by an independent judging panel, the following businesses have been announced as the 2017 finalists (listed in alphabetical order):

Wine Tasmania Chief Executive Sheralee Davies encouraged members of the wine loving public to visit these businesses and vote for their favourite as part of the ‘People’s Choice’ Award. “The pride in our outstanding local wines is well reflected in the applications and wine lists received this year, and each of the applicants is to be commended for their support of the island’s wines.”

Tasmanian Hospitality Association General Manager Steve Old said that “the wine sector within Tasmania continues to grow and thrive, and our reputation as a wine destination remains strong from both a national and an international perspective. As such, the THA is proud to recognise venues which offer their patrons a varied wine list whilst also showing support for our Tasmanian wine growers.”

“Statistics show that a growing number of tourists come to Tasmania just to visit our wineries and, whilst here, stay in our hotels and eat at our restaurants, greatly benefiting hospitality more broadly in Tasmania. I would encourage all venues to put forward their nomination for Tasmanian Wine List of the Year 2018 and be acknowledged for the great work you do for our thriving industry”, said Mr Old.

Venues are assessed against a range of criteria, including the representation of Tasmanian wines by the glass and bottle, the depth and scope of wines offered, the way Tasmanian wines are listed and promoted on the wine list and relevant aspects of wine service, training and knowledge.

The 2017 Tasmanian Wine List of the Year Judges’ Choice and People’s Choice Awards will be announced in August 2017. Public voting closes on Sunday 13 August 2017.
