Wine Tasmania CEO Sheralee Davies encouraged members of the wine-loving public to visit these businesses and vote for their favourite as part of the 'People's Choice' Award. "It's been very pleasing to see the number and range of high quality applications in this year's program, which demonstrates the support and recognition of the island's outstanding wines."

"Venues are assessed against a range of criteria, including the representation of Tasmanian wines by the glass and bottle, the depth and scope of wines offered, the way Tasmanian wines are listed and promoted on the wine list and relevant aspects of wine service, training and knowledge."

"It has been a challenging task for the selection panel and we particularly acknowledge the finalists as outlined, as well as all applicants, for their interest in and support of the island's wines."

Tasmanian Hospitality Association General Manager Steve Old said wine played an extremely important role in the hospitality sector. "Just as people make decisions on where to dine based on a menu, people also make those decisions based on the quality of a venue's wine list. Tasmania has an excellent reputation for both food and wine, and here is a great way to recognise those venues which are providing their patrons with excellent wine choices as well as supporting Tasmanian growers," Mr Old said.

The 2015 Tasmanian Wine List of the Year "Judges' Choice" and "People's Choice" Awards will be announced at the THA Gala Evening on 24 August 2015. Public voting closes on Sunday 16 August 2015.
