Spirit of Tasmania ships to undergo makeovers
Making the Bass Strait journey more inviting
The two Spirit of Tasmania ships are getting a makeover and will be fully refurbished by August, ready to bring visitors to the island state for some spring food and wine.
The new and improved ships will feature three new bars. At Bar Seven, there are plenty of quiet corners, couches, and open spaces. It’s the perfect place to unwind and start your voyage with a range of Tasmanian wines, ciders, and beers. The Terrace Lounge Bar is aptly named for its many different areas, with a number of flatscreen TVs located throughout to catch up on your favourite TV shows or stroll the outside decks and breathe in the fresh sea breeze…there’s nothing quite like it.
On day sailings, enjoy the stunning ocean views with a pizza or panini. At the Top Deck Lounge, grab a deck chair and sit back with an ice cold beverage. Top Deck is designed to have an outdoor feel in an indoor area. There are plenty of seating options and floor to ceiling windows to embrace nothing around you but 232 miles of spectacular Bass Strait.
When it’s time to dine on board Spirit of Tasmania there are Tasmanian inspired marketplace favourites, including a Tasmanian signature dish of the day, in the new self-service restaurant Tasmanian Market Kitchen.
For a quick bite to eat, The Pantry offers freshly prepared ‘grab and go’ snacks, Tasmanian style provedore products, and souvenirs.
Entertainment options include two new cinemas with latest release movies and a gaming lounge. The upper decks feature teen zones and a children's play area as well as new bars and family entertainment. Disco bingo, trivia and live music are available on day sailings. Or, if reading is more your thing, retreat to the Reading Room and enjoy uninterrupted novel time throughout your journey.
You also have the option of taking your own car with you so there’s no need to worry about car hire fees or expensive taxi fares. With the option to fill the car with suitcases, golf clubs, fishing gear, camping equipment, board games and anything needed for a touring adventure, travellers can enjoy stress free packing and pack as much as can fit in the car boot.
Accommodation options include Deluxe cabins complete with a queen size bed, private ensuite, flat screen TV and ocean views. There are also three other accommodation options to suit all types of travellers, including Twin Cabins with two beds for two people and Four Berth Cabins with bunk beds for up to four people, perfect for families. Ocean Recliners are also available and offer low cost reclining chairs located in a private lounge. Cabins have a choice of inside or porthole view. During the summer peak season and other high demand periods, travel on a day sailing with a Day Ticket.
Whether it’s a family adventure or a romantic getaway, travellers can arrive rested and refreshed, ready to begin their touring holiday.
