Wine Tasmania has issued its sixth invitation for Australian wine trade to visit Tasmania on 7 and 8 July 2019.

Ten participants will be selected to experience two days of the Tasmanian winter, touring the island’s stunning north and experiencing its diversity of wines, produce, scenery and people.

In extending the invitation, Wine Tasmania CEO Sheralee Davies said visiting the island was the best way to experience the Tasmanian lifestyle and its outstanding produce.

“We live in one of the best places on earth and this annual visit allows us to share a little of the lifestyle we’re privileged to call our own.”

“From the island’s range of wine varieties and styles, through to fresh produce, creative and talented people and mind-blowing scenery, it’s an unforgettable two days.”

“Many of the island’s wine producers only sell their wines in Tasmania, whilst others that do sell their wines off-island generally do so in small quantities. Visiting is therefore the best way to experience Tasmania and explore our wines.”

Ms Davies noted that Wine Tasmania had hosted fifty influential wine trade representatives over the past five years, creating valuable supporters and ambassadors for Tasmania and its wines.

“The feedback from previous trade guests has been particularly positive, with more Tasmanian wines appearing on restaurant wine lists and wine retail shelves as a direct result,” she said.

The visitation program is open to people currently employed in the wine trade including sommeliers, restaurateurs, food and beverage, retail and wholesale representatives. Applicants must be in a position of authority for wine purchasing decisions and available to travel to Tasmania on Sunday 7 July and Monday 8 July 2019.

Wine trade representatives have been sent an invitation to submit their interest by Monday 27 May via a simple application form available here. A selection committee will review expressions of interest and confirmed participants will be announced by Wednesday 12 June.

This program is presented with support from the Tasmanian Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment.
