Owners of Flynn’s Wines, Greg and Natala Flynn took over the Heathcote Wine Hub Cellar & Store in Central Victoria from Jodi and Brett Marsh of Sanguine Estate Winery, with a clear vision for this much-loved café, cellar and providore.

Locals and visitors to Heathcote are now witnessing their vision as a new menu in the café, artisan-made produce and home wares, pantry essentials and treats, are all sitting alongside what is still the biggest offering of Heathcote wines in the world, under one roof.

With over 24 local wines on taste every day, the Heathcote Wine Hub Cellar & Store has long-been THE place in town to taste local wines, meet wine-makers from boutique vineyards who may never open their own cellar doors, and enjoy good food in the cellar store or courtyard garden setting.

Under Greg and Natala’s stewardship, visitors can now buy delicious foods to take home, as well as a wide-range of produce from which to create their own meals. Fresh breads, croissants, cakes and pastries, a well-stocked cheese-counter with French, English as well as Australian cheeses sit alongside cured meats, chorizo and salamis, which are produced from free-range animals, including from local provider McIvor Farm Foods.

There are always gluten free and dairy free options on the menu as well as in the pantry, and much of the produce is organic and sourced locally.

There’s been a home or a store on the High Street site since 1872, and since 2005 when the original Cellar & Store was opened by the redoubtable Eleanor Dempster, the venue has been welcoming locals and visitors to this gem within the Heathcote region of Central Victoria.

The courtyard garden has become a feature over the summer months offering full sun and shade. There’s seating at tables for 2, 4 and 6 guests as well as larger groups of up to twenty, who can be accommodated on a custom-made, wooden artisan table.

Greg and Natala established Flynn’s Wines nearly twenty years ago and produce award-winning wines from vines grown on the unique terroir of their stunning vineyard. Whites such as verdelho and viognier and the reds of sangiovese and shiraz, have become well-known Australia-wide for their consistency, their character and price-point.

Greg is Flynn's winemaker and Natala is the Executive Chef for both The Bistro at Flynn's and the Wine Hub.

Natala says, “We’re a family who love what we do and I hope our wines, the food we serve and the atmosphere we create at all of our businesses reflect that. We have always wanted to open a café in the centre of Heathcote that would appeal to locals popping in for a coffee and a piece of cake every day, or to visitors touring the vineyards who may have come from Melbourne for the day, or from overseas as part of their Australian adventure.”
