Attica is an exceptional restaurant located in the suburb of Ripponlea, Melbourne.
The relationship between owners David and Helen Maccora, chef Ben Shewry and front of house manager Camm Whiteoak is solidly based upon a love of food. For the past four years chef Ben Shewry has been given the opportunity to produce his beautiful and exciting cuisine with complete autonomy, the result being some of Australia's most recognised food.
On Tuesday nights Ben Shewry creates a new and unique 5 course tasting menu for the fantastic price of $80.00 per person. Chef's table is a great night for diners who are open to experimentation with their food, diners that like to get a little adventurous. New dishes and exciting flavor combinations are tried and tested on our Tuesday night menu before they appear a la carte. Please note that due to the nature of this menu Attica is unable to cater for dietary requirements on a Tuesday evening.
On Friday and Saturday evenings Attica serve their 8 course tasting menu only. They offer a full vegetarian option on these evenings, and do cater for dietary requirements for all diners. There is a wine match available for those more decadent diners. Bookings are essential and they require a booking fee of $50 per diner, which will be taken off the account upon dining.
The truly unique food is presented with professional and passionate support by all staff members. Wines are chosen by their suitability and compatibility with the food. Service is knowledgeable, friendly and passionate about the dishes when they are presented. Recent improvements to the restaurant have involved kitchen extensions and advanced cooking equipment. The quest is for creative, balanced, beautiful food.
On Tuesday 27th April, 2010, Attica received the sensational news that it had been listed as the 73rd Best Restaurant in the world in the San Pellegrino World's Best Restaurants List. This list is often referred to as the ‘Oscars' of the hospitality world.
