High Country Harvest, North-East Victoria:
Relaxing Picnic at the Tweed Ride

The famous Rutherglen Tweed Ride is back and with tickets already selling fast, it’s a sure sign that this will be the best one yet!

A proud part of the High Country Harvest festival, The Rutherglen Tweed Ride is a fantastic opportunity to dress in your finest retro attire, polish off your favourite vintage set of wheels, and explore and indulge in Rutherglen's iconic food and wine.

Guests will cycle through our gorgeous gold-rush era town on a 12km ride and visit three locations, where they will learn about our history, take in gorgeous views and surroundings, and most importantly enjoy a decadent food and wine experience that is unique to Rutherglen.

The first stop on the ride is The Wicked Virgin, who specialise in olives and olive oils. They also sit on a great property that has relics of our gold-mining past. Guests will be able to enjoy the groves, play boules on the lawns, and learn about our gold rush history. A light brunch incorporating a welcome glass of red bubbles and great olive products will make sure everyone is fuelled up for their next stop.

The second stop on the ride is the Rutherglen Golf Club, where guests can sit under 100-year-old trees, enjoy uninterrupted views of Lake King, and try a hit of hole-in-one with antique timber golf clubs. A wonderful long lunch will be served at this stop by the award-winning team from The Pickled Sisters Café, showcasing our delicious local produce, and some of our most iconic wine varieties.

Our final stop on the ride will be Scion Vineyard and Winery. This is one of the newest wineries in the region and home to some very exciting interpretations of Rutherglen wine classics. Our guests will get to learn about the history of our winemaking heritage, as Rowland (the owner of Scion) is a 6th generation Rutherglen winemaker!

An indulgent afternoon tea of cheeses and seasonal fruits and nuts, with French-inspired 'after dinner' wines will be served under their colourful umbrellas - a perfect ending to a gorgeous day riding through Rutherglen's historical countryside.

The Tweed Ride is the ideal way for visitors to get a truly behind-the-scenes experience of Rutherglen, and to learn and experience our famous wines and food. With a focus on supporting small local businesses and attracting repeat visitation and customer loyalty, this event is a very important one on our calendar.

So, grab that fantastic tartan vest and come along to experience our breathtaking views, delicious food and iconic Rutherglen wines. An experience you won’t forget!
