Rutherglen Estates is proud to announce that our 2013 Renaissance Durif took out four prestigious trophies at the 127th Annual Rutherglen Wine Show.

The 2013 Renaissance Durif was awarded the Seguin Moreau Special Award for Best Barrel Matured Table Wine for the North East Region of Victoria, as well as the awards for Best Australian Dry Red Wine made from fruit grown in the Rutherglen and the North East regions of Victoria and the Best Australian Durif Award.

"We are very excited to receive these four trophies for our 2013 Renaissance Durif. These awards highlight the quality of wine we have been aiming to produce and our focus on making premium table wines. Rutherglen Estates has been striving for continual improvement in the vineyard and winery and as our vineyard matures, we believe our wines are becoming more intense and of a higher quality - which is very exciting for the future," says Marc Scalzo, Chief Winemaker and General Manager of Rutherglen Estates.

Rutherglen is traditionally known for producing red wine and Durif is a distinct variety best-suited to the mild and dry conditions of this world-renowned winemaking region. Rutherglen Estates produced its first Durif in 2002 and has been working to create an elegant and approachable wine with intensity and varietal definition, and the 2013 Renaissance Durif is a great example of this.

The 2013 Renaissance Durif was selected from the best parcels of fruit in the vineyard and has been carefully made using traditional winemaking practices. This ultra-premium, flagship wine shows great depth of flavour and finesse, with characteristics of chocolate, liquorice and spice, complemented by dark plums and prunes.
