Here's a timely recipe for summer:
Summer Blueberry Cocktail
The blender cocktail: a no-fuss, all-in-one cocktail with a bright purple hue, flecked with aromatic fresh herbs. Use frozen blueberries and it’s summer all year around.
- gin 60 ml (2 oz)
- vodka 30 ml (1 oz)
- frozen blueberries large handful
- lime juice, freshly squeezed 15 ml (½ oz)
- homemade Mint Syrup (page 49) dash
- fresh mint leaves 8–10 leaves
- chilled mineral water to loosen
- fresh mint sprig to garnish
- few whole blueberries to garnish
Blender, wide straw
Whizz the gin, vodka,blueberries, lime juice, syrup and mint leaves in a blender, then add a little chilled mineral water to loosen the liquid. Pour into a highball full of ice, garnish with a mint sprig, a few whole blueberries and serve with a straw.
[Ed: mint syrup can be made by infusing a handful of fresh mint leaves lightly crushed in a cup of simple sugar syrup]
