Following a high-flying 2016, which saw Australia’s first female owned brewery, Two Birds Brewing, take out a swag of awards at the 2016 Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA), including Champion Trophy Winner, the flock is growing again with the launch of a new Pale Ale “PALE”, a brew the company’s fans have been crowing for since the successful launch of a speciality batch last year.

PALE is New World style Pale ale, designed to complement the existing range – Golden, Sunset and Taco. The brew is hazy and super pale, and in true Two Birds style, has been brewed with a twist: it has two types of oats to give it a silky mouthfeel while the hops lend pine, pineapple and passionfruit notes.

This is the first Pale Ale released for ongoing sale by Co-Founders, Danielle Allen and Jayne Lewis, who state that the launch of PALE is as much about being practical as it is about passion.

“Last year we produced a speciality batch Pale Ale called Oaty McOatface, which received really positive feedback at our tasting room in Spotswood, Victoria. This encouraged us to consider giving this style of beer a permanent position in our range”, says Danielle Allen.

Also, we now have additional capacity following our brewery expansion in late 2016, so it makes commercial sense for us to launch a new beer in a style that continues to see enormous growth year-on-year in the Australian market.”

“PALE has been brewed with a Two Birds twist and our mantra has always been to produce beers that are balanced, flavoursome, approachable and a little bit of fun”, comments Jayne Lewis.

The launch of PALE comes at an exciting time for Australia’s first female brewing duo, who last month expanded their brewery operations, installing a 12-head bottling line from Italian manufacturer CIME, that can run 3,000 bottles per hour. PALE is the first beer to come off the line and the rest of the range will follow over the next few months.

“The new line and additional tanks gives us the capacity to produce over two million litres of beer per year, so there is plenty of room for growth. As we approach six years in business this year, it was a natural step for us to take and gives us greater flexibility to do smaller packaging runs more often, meaning that our beer is delivered to customers as fresh as possible” added Jayne.

Two Birds PALE is available from bottle shops and on tap nationally and retails at $21.99 for a six pack.

The launch heralds a revamped look and feel for the Two Birds brand, with each of the core ranges featuring new look illustrations that depict its origins and flavour profile. The full roll-out will take place throughout 2017.

Two Birds PALE tasting notes:
