De Bortoli Yarra Valley Wines range - Pinot and Rose blends

De Bortoli is one of Australia's First Families of wine, dating back to 1928 and now into its third generation of winemakers.

Its home is in Bilbul in NSW with vineyards in the Riverina and Hunter Valley in NSW and the Yarra and King Valleys in Victoria.

All three of these Rosés are produced from Yarra Valley vines and all three are perfect for long, warm summer days or evenings, sharing laughter and  good cheer with family and friends. Or just as enticing in the cooler summer evening as a quiet sipping pleasure.

La Boheme, Act Two, Yarra Valley Dry Pinot Rose

The Yarra Valley’s very own opera diva, Dame Nellie Melba, enchanted the world as Mimi in ‘La Boheme’. This range of wines plays tribute to
Melba in one of her most well-known operas, based in the characterful Latin Quarter of 1880’s Paris.

Fruit for this wine is specifically grown and pressed from a select group of Yarra Valley vineyards. It is made from 94% pinor noir with a splash other aromatic varieties.

The wine shows lifted notes of red fruits together with an underlying savouriness. It is naturally fermented in old French casks using indigenous yeasts with a little stirring of the lees at the end.

La Boheme is is pale, textural and delicious - perfect for summer drinking or as an aperitif all year round.  It's a wine with a bit of attitude!

Suggested De Bortoli recipe: Rabbit 'Cotoletta' with Insalata Rosso

Alc vol: 12%

RRP A$23.00 bottle

Rococo Rosé

Rococo combines the French word rocaille (shell) with the Italian barocco (Baroque) and is the name given to the highly decorative art and design of 18th Century Europe which incorporated shell motifs. Rococo sparkling wines are European in style with similar curves and detail with the packaging also reflecting the Rococo style.

Being a non-vintage wine, vintage conditions vary from season to season. This is a blend of several vintages from selected vineyards with the base wines blended to a style – creamy, complex, fine, interesting.

Chardonnay for the creaminess, pinot meunier for spice and perfume, pinot noir for complexity and grace. The fruit is gently pressed to avoid any nasty, bitter flavours. The pressed juice is fermented in both tank and cask at elevated temperatures to ‘blow off’ the fruitiness. The base wines are blended each year and then over blended with previous vintage material to produce the desired flavour profile.

Rococo is a soft, light wine with perfectly ripe flavours of raspberries, cherries and strawberries mingled with a splash of pink. It has creamy petal like aromas that are perfumed and complex.

Suggested De Bortoli recipe: Roasted Figs with Proscuitto and Gorgonzola

Alc vol: 12%

RRP A$22.00 bottle

Estate Grown Rosé

Yarra Valley Estate Grown wines are sourced from the De Bortoli family vineyards at Dixon’s Creek in the cool-climate Yarra Valley. The mature, low yielding vines deliver exceptional quality fruit to the winery.

This is preserved during winemaking with gentle, low intervention techniques to produce wine with varietal detail and purity. The idea is to create wine with a ‘sense of place’.

Fruit is grown on three sites from the Yarra Valley vineyards. Pressings from each parcel are included as these are important for flavour and texture. The wine is fermented in old French casks using indigenous yeasts with a little stirring of the lees at the end. The resultant cuvées undergo secondary
fermentation to give them their fizz. The finished wine is pale, light and mineral with texture and feel, dry and very delicious – perfect for summer drinking or as an aperitif all year round.

The Estate Grown Rosé is classic partridge eye pink with sweet lifted pino aromatics, hints of grilled nbuts and marzipan. On the palate it's soft, textural and slightly savoury, gentle flavours with some good drying acidity.

Suggested De Bortoli recipe:Kedgeree

Serve quite chilled.

Alc vol: 12.5%

RRP A$23.00 bottle
